REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS 2008-2009

Chinmaya Mission Washington Regional Center - Dulles Chapter



1. Every participant, with or without children, new or currently registered, is required to fill in the Registration Form. A child may not be enrolled without his/her parents' enrollment and participation in Adult Classes.

2. Please note that at least one parent is required to attend the Adult Gita/Vedanta Class while children are attending Balavihar.
The only exception to this is if you are a Sevak, teaching a Balavihar class.
Children CANNOT be left at the Mission premises without a parent.

3. If for some reason, you are not able to make it to the class, please inform via email, your child's class teacher, and also send an email to absent@chinmayadulles.org.

4. Please make sure your Primary E-mail address is always kept current. All Mission activities are notified via e-mail. Please make sure to check your e-mail regularly. For any changes to your email address, please inform email_sevak@chinmayadulles.org promptly.

5. Please note that your registration is not complete until we receive the signed Online Registration Receipt along with your check and/or void-check (not applicable for credit card payments).

6. The completed Pledge receipt with check and/or void-check or credit-card payment is due by Tuesday, July 1, 2008.
Forms received thereafter will be accepted on a first come first served basis, and subject to availability of seats. Once you have printed the Online Registration Receipt, please complete, attach your check / void-check and Mail to Ravi Manne (Membership Co-ordinator), 42747 Bennett St., South Riding, VA 20152.
Your registration will be confirmed via e-mail from the Membership coordinator by 1st week of August, 2008.

7. Balavihar Sessions: Two identical Balavihar and Adult sessions are offered on Sunday Morning (9:45am - 11:15am) and Afternoon (1:00pm - 2:30pm). The Saturday morning (9:45-11:15am) session will be there ONLY IF we are not able to accommodate everyone on Sunday. The decision on Saturday Session will be communicated to all registrants by first week of August.
Please provide your first and second choice of session preferences. All efforts will be made to accommodate your first choice, but as sessions are filled, your second choice may have to be used.
The Sessions will be filled in the following priority sequence:
(a) Active volunteers (teachers, coordinators, Sevaks, etc.) and their children
(b) Returning children with good attendance and
(c) The remaining spaces will be filled on a first come first served basis.
Classes may be cancelled if sufficient students are not available for any given session.

8. Annual Pledges:
a. Amounts of pledges are given in the online application form.
b. The preferred method of payment is by a single check for the whole year, or credit card, to reduce the administrative work for our volunteers.
c. If this is not possible, you can pay only the Adult Basic Pledge of $360 per year, or the Sponsor-level Pledge of $101 per month by monthly automatic bank deduction spread over 12 months.
d. The non-refundable Balavihar Pledge would still need to be paid by check at the time of registration.
e. If the annual contribution poses a financial difficulty, please contact Membership coordinator to discuss financial aid.
f. All credit card payments will be charged the extra 2% Service Charge (non-refundable) as charged by the credit card processing company.
g. In case we are not able to offer your preferred session, and if you wish to withdraw, please notify membership@chinmayadulles.org latest by September 30, 2008, and the pledge refund (by check only) will be mailed to your home address.

9. Language & Arts:
a. All children in Language/Arts classes must be enrolled in the Balavihar program.
b. Languages and Bharatnatyam classes will be held in between the two Sunday Balavihar sessions, tentatively at 11:15am-12:15pm.
If we have a Saturday Balavihar session, and based on availability of sevaks, we may have a Language class session from 11:15am-12:15pm.
Kuchipudi classes will be held only on Sundays from 1:30-2:30pm.
Exact schedule will be posted on our website (http://chinmayadulles.org) by the 4th week of August 2008.
c. One or more of these classes may be cancelled if there is not sufficient interest, or if the teacher volunteer is not available. This will be notified latest by the 4th week of August 2008.
d. Contribution (if you are not a Sponsor-level donor): The one-time annual non-refundable contribution is requested at the time of registration. Payment can be made by check or credit card along with the Balavihar registration.
e. We will try our best to schedule the language & arts classes so as to minimize any conflicts. In case you have chosen both language and arts classes, and they happen to be at the same time, we will notify you, via email, and ask for your preference, before the open house (Sept 7, 2008).

10. Continued enrollment in the program is contingent on your following the rules of conduct.

11. Rules of Conduct
a. NO eating, drinking or chewing of gum in the classrooms.
b. Do NOT bring sports equipment to the center. There shall be No running in the hallways.
c. Maintain decorum at all times. DO NOT touch classroom material. Leave furniture and classroom environment in order. Put trash in trash bins.
d. Parents of Balavihar children can neither leave the premises during the Balavihar session, nor loiter in the hallways. They are expected to be in the Adults' Gita / Vedanta class.
e. Classes start promptly. In case of tardiness, please wait outside until the prayers are over so as not to disturb others.
e. Maintain appropriate dress code.
f. Rewards will be given once a year for excellent attendance, behavior, and punctuality based on weekly records kept by respective teachers.
g. Teachers put a lot of effort in preparing for the class, and they care for the Balavihar children. If your child cannot come to the class because of sickness or going out of town, please inform your child's Balavihar teacher.
h. Respect for self is respect for others. Children should come prepared with their Balavihar notebook, textbooks and needed stationery.
